Barn Dance, This Saturday!
Oct 12th, 2006 by Office Manager
This Saturday (10/14) is the Barn Dance. Get ready for the most fun you
have ever had in your life! Those attending should be at the Newman Center
by 1:30 for a 2:00 departure. A note to those who can help transport people
out to Ligonier: as a general rule, it’s best if the cars leaving for
Ligonier are as full as possible. This way we can make sure everyone has a
ride. The Oratory van will also be available for others should there not be
enough cars so we should be fine for rides so long as people are willing to
help, so thanks to those who can help in this way. A note for those
accepting rides from others: remember to help out with the gas money. It’s
a long ride and gas prices are high. There are copies of a map and
directions available at the Newman Center for those unfamiliar with the way.
This can be picked up during the week or on Saturday just as you’re leaving,
whatever is convenient.
If you leave by 2:00 you’ll arrive at Rednal by 3:30. We’ll start serving
dinner around 4:00 o’clock, which will consists of hotdogs and hamburgers,
baked beans, etc. Veggie burgers will be available for those not interested
in meat. After dinner will be a hay-ride, and we’ll be back at the barn by
sundown to start the square dancing. We dance for about two hours, and then
we have the annual apple bobbing contest, which is the most amazing contest
ever. Participants get very wet, so if you plan to participate, which you
do, bring an extra shirt. The evening wraps up around 9:30 at which time
all depart for Pittsburgh. A reminder to drivers: we need to make sure
everyone who has a ride out to Ligonier has a ride back. The easiest thing
is for people to go there and back in the same car, but this isn’t necessary
if certain people want to leave early. Just be conscious of the people who
came with you and make sure they have a ride back to Pittsburgh.
