Theology of the Body and the Disintegration of Human Love: the Fall

Do you ever wonder what the real meaning of romantic love is, what it’s really for? Do you ever wonder why it seems so unclear and hard to achieve, in any context, despite all best efforts? Or why of all things your love life seems to be the thing you most want, but have the least control over?

This Sunday evening, Dr. Theresa Farnan will attempt to shed some light on these and other questions by showing how Pope John Paul’s “Theology of the Body” illuminates the Church’s teaching about “original sin” and its impact on our call to love. Bring your questions, and a friend. Duquesne and Carlow students should check with their campus ministries about rides to the event.

Catholic Action begins every Sunday at 7:00pm, after the 6:00pm Mass at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 108 N. Dithridge St. Besides the presentation, come to enjoy the pizza, discussion and fellowship.

Undergrad Retreat This Weekend

Grad Bible Study – Speaker

This semester’s series of Bible studies for local grad students will begin Monday at 6:00pm, when we’ll depart from the Newman Center for Holy Trinity parish in McKees Rocks to hear Dr. Stephen Miletic present on, “The Bible and Culture: Biblical Spirituality.” Dr. Miletic is presently a professor of Sacred Scripture and Catechetics at Franciscan University of Steubenville, and has instructed both students and teachers in this field for over 25 years. According to the précis: “Spirituality is a personal encounter with God. How can you have a subjective experience of an objective reality? What is Biblical Spirituality? This lecture examines the Interior, Religious, and Spiritual Life and how this life interacts with the culture.” Ordinarily, the weekly grad Bible study begins at 7:45pm, on Monday nights. Drew Morgan, provost of the Pittsburgh Oratory of St. Philip Neri and past university chaplain, detailed the development of Catholic campus ministry on non-Catholic university campuses in the United States. Fr. Victor Mosele talk

On Wed, Dec 2 at 8:35 pm in room 1501 posvar, Father Victor Mosele will be here to talk about his experiences as a missionary in Africa and the RUF rebels and child soldiers. Born and raised in Italy, Fr. Mosele was a missionary with the St. Francis Xavier Foreign Missionary Society and for nearly 30 years he lived and worked in Africa. After being captured by child soldiers in Africa twice, Fr. Mosele was moved to the United States where he currently works with college students in Madison, Wisconsin. Come join us for this exciting and interesting talk by Fr. Victor Mosele.
