Labor Day Mass Schedule

Because of the Labor Day holiday, the regular schedule of Masses at the Oratory and Newman Center will be suspended for Monday, September 6, 2010. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am; there will be no 7:30am Mass, no 4:30 confessions, and no 5:15 or 9:00pm Masses. For the regular schedule of Mass and confessions, please check our services page.

Important: Correction concerning confession times

The confession times posted earlier were in error: there will be no additional confession times presently added to our weekly schedule. Our regular schedule continues according to the following:

Monday – Friday 4:30PM – 5:00PM

Saturday – 3:00PM – 3:45PM

Bishop Zubik Events

The first annual celebration of service and commissioning for college students, faculty, and staff who will participate in Spring Break Service Projects will take place on February 24, 2008. Bishop Zubik will preside at the 6:00 pm Sunday liturgy at St. Paul Cathedral and commission all those involved in the various projects. This event is sponsored by Carlow University, Duquesne University, and La Roche College, and will be cablecast.

On March 2, Bishop Zubik will also be at the Newman Center’s Pizza & Proposal of Doubts beginning at 7:00pm.

Spring Break Men’s Retreat – Grad & Undergrad

Join us for a silent retreat at the Abbey of the Genesee in upstate New York from Monday March 10 through Friday March 14. During the retreat we will join the monks in praying each of the hours of the Divine Office as well as in the celebration of Mass. A daily spiritual conference will be offered by one of the monks. Welcome to New Pitt, CMU, and Chatham Students

There are a bunch of orientation and welcome activities going on around the campuses these next couple of weeks, but the real food and fun – and faith – are going down right here at the Newman Center (or somewhere close by). Campus ministry staff will be on hand to chat, Newman club officers will be looking for volunteers (don’t worry, they’ll ask nicely), and good clean fun will be had by all. Why go Greek, when you can go Latin?

Oratorian Fathers Away This Coming Week

For the week of September 24th, Father Drew and Father Michael will be away for the sexennial Oratorian Congress in Rome. Newman Center schedules will be affected as follows for the dates September 25th through 29th (Monday through Friday) of that week:

No Sunday Q & A.
No daily noon Mass at Heinz chapel, M-F, or 9:30 p.m. at the Oratory.
No Wednesday or Thursday study groups.

There WILL be daily confessions, 4:30 – 5 p.m.
There WILL be daily 5:15 p.m. Mass at the Oratory.
There WILL be daily Eucharistic adoration according to the normal schedule.
There WILL be Monday (CL) and Tuesday (RCIA) groups.
There WILL be the normally scheduled student Bible study groups.

The normal schedule will resume Saturday, September 30th, with the 10:00 a.m. Mass.
