SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14
*LOVE WALK FOR THE POOR*–The Lovewalk for the Poor is a worship and
social service experience aimed to help the poor of our diocese. After
celebrating Mass, walkers carry previously collected food and clothing
donations to a local service institution. This year, people will be
walking to East End Cooperative Ministries. The walk is about one mile
in length, and is intended to help participants glimpse the difficult
experience of the homeless who carry their possessions with them at
all times.
*Catholic Action*–every week following the 6PM Mass at St. Paul’s
Cathedral, there will be a talk or a discussion in the basement of St.
Paul’s. All students are welcome to attend. As always there will be
pizza and drinks provided.

be able and interested in using God’s gifts to proclaim His word at
Sunday Masses, please have them contact Rosalyn at
oratoryreaders@hotmail.com . No prior experience or training is
necessary; there will be a brief workshop required before one is
placed on the schedule.

FRONT DESK–looking for an excuse to get some
quiet time for a little reading or studying? Weekends are always a
good time to spend at the Oratory front desk! Our doors are open
everyday from 8:00am to 10:00pm – if any 2-3 hour period works for
you, please consider offering the time. Please contact Nancy to make

Lenten Season Book Discussion

As we approach and enter the Lenten season, join us for a weekly discussion group on the book “Way of the Ascetics” by Tito Colliander. This work is a rich, compact introduction for modern readers to the Eastern Christian spiritual tradition that has been an inspiration to millions for centuries. These compassionate and insightful reflections on self-control and inner peace are meant to lead the readers to fuller union with God. First Friday Feast

This Friday, Feb 5, will once again be the First Friday Feast. Come join us down below in the conference room of the Newman Center for a wonderful feast. All students are welcome . The feast will begin promptly after the 5:15 mass (around 6:00). After the feast, we will all be heading up to the chapel for another First Friday Vigil where the blessed sacrament will be exposed for prayer and adoration. This begins around 8:00 pm.

Undergrad retreat (Braveheart Style)

“The may take our lives, but they’ll never take…our freedom!!!” Or at least that whats Mel Gibson says in the movie Braveheart. The reason for the movie quote is that this weekend, Fr. Steven will be leading an undergrad retreat at the Rednal Retreat House in Ligoneer, PA. The theme will on the magnanimity of heart or courage of heart, and because of this the alternate theme is Braveheart. 20$ covers the cost of food, transportation and lodging and this retreat is restricted to UNDERGRADS only. All undergraduates are welcome to attend. Departure will be from the Oratory right after the spagettii dinner on Friday the 29th (around 7 or 8pm) and we will return sun around 1pm on the 31st. March for Life

This Friday, January 22 marks the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade which is the court case that officially legalized abortion in the USA. On this date is the 37th annual March for Life held down in Washington DC to protest abortion. The students for Life campus organization is sponsoring a bus trip down to DC to participate in the March for Life. This trip is free for all college students and will depart from St. Pauls Cathedral in Oakland at 6am and will return around midnight that Friday. All are welcome to attend. Sign up sheets can be found on the front desk of the Newman Center. We ask those who cannot attend to keep all those who will be at the march in their prayers as they make this pilgrimage for life.
